| Thanks for the input - i am in TN - I don't think that there is a law for it here - i am not sure it is the LL - it is between the LL and the Mnt. man. My neighbor was home today and heard some keys rattling outside her door. When she opened the door there was our LL stating that she was just about to knock...which she didn't believe. I also have obviously misplaced some things that I was sure I knew where to locate them. It is a real pain in the rump but thanks for the knowledge.

First, are you sure s/he is entering your unit? How do you know someone has been in there? Could it be someone other than the LL (maintenance person)? If you are sure, mention that you would like to know if the locks were changed before you moved in because it appears someone is entering your unit when you are not home. (This may startle her/him into stopping unnecessary entry.) If not, request they be changed immediately.
I don't know what state you are in, but there is no statute on LL entry, or requirements for notifying you prior to entry, in 24 states or districts. I know it sounds terrible, but if there is no law, it will be hard to make the LL stop entering your unit. Please post your state or check your state law for LL entry requirements. Also, even when there is no state law, there is often a local or city ordinance that covers this topic. Check those laws too. If you find a law that requires notice prior to entry, send a copy of the statute to your LL. If not, send a letter to the LL requesting 24 hours advance notice before entering your unit for your convenience. (If there is no law, they don't have to do this, but it can't hurt to ask.) Please check these laws and post what you find.

I don't know if anyone can help me with this or not. I think my landlord is coming in my apartment on a regular basis. Nothing is being done I just think that she is coming in to be nosey. Is this legal. Can she just come in my apartment any time she wants with out even letting me know.
