To clarify, it depends on several factors. Does the tenant have a current lease? Are they agreeable to changing the rent due date? If they have a lease and agree to the change, it is possible to write up an agreement to prorate a month to change the rent due date. If they are willing to sign such an amendment, then yes you can change the rent due date.
If they have a lease and do not agree, you cannot change the date it is due until that lease ends.
If they are month to month tenants, you can change any lease terms (including the due date) by just giving them the proper amount of writtten notice as required by your state. They do not have to agree to it. If they do not agree, they can give the required amount of notice under your state's law and move out.
