In early November of last year, our new landlord bought our 5 dwelling apartment building (used to be one house many years ago).  The problem that my boyfriend and I have encountered is a VERY high spike in our electric bill.  We do have an air conditioner that we have on a timer as to not waste money.  The last two months our bill has nearly doubled.  We did a little investigative work ourselves.  We turned off our breaker to our apartment and low and behold our bedroom, the spare room AND the bathroom lights and sockets remain on!!!  We also went outside to look at our meter and it was still spinning.  We have asked other tenants how much their bill is running and it is significantly lower than our bill.  We have called the electric company and they have said that they will be sending out someone next week to check if there is any meter sharing going on.

Has anyone one else encountered this type of problem before?

Is there anything else we should do? (calling an inspector?)

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you!
